Another hire for Eric Musselman and staff this weekend, as Tommy Abdenour was brought in as the Special Assistant to the Head Coach.

Abdenour spent five years working in the G-League for the Warriors and Nuggets respective teams, and is welcomed to Fayetteville coming off a four year stint as an assistant for the newly D-1 school, Lindenwood. In the middle of those two jobs though, was a coaching experience even coaching journeyman Eric Musselman doesn’t have.

As G-League assistant in 2018, Abdenour was called to the front office to discuss a question. “What if you became the coach for our 2K team?” Abdenour wasn’t sure what to think at the time, but eventually accepted the role, and became the Head Coach of the Warriors Gaming Squad.

He focused on gameplans, setting up offensive and defensive schemes for each player type.

Abdenour coached the Warriors team for two years before making the decision to take his talent to Lindenwood.

Lindenwood finished last season 11-31 in their first year in D-1.

The different experiences on Musselman’s staff have worked extremely well the last few years, as the Hogs have reached the Sweet Sixteen or further in the last three.

We’ll see how Abdenour does in his new role, but because of his unique background, I wouldn’t expect anything but success.
