Arkansas Alum Could Draft Hogs RB High In 2024 Draft

While Arkansas fans and College Football fans in general may be excited for Hog running back Rocket Sanders this season, his time at Arkansas is most likely coming to close. A projected first-rounder by almost every reliable network, Sanders has the chance to be the first Razorback RB to be drafted in the first round since the legend Darren McFadden.

Sanders finished last season with 1,443 yards on the ground, to go along with ten touchdowns, putting his name in the conversation to be the best in the entire country. With a similar season this year, being drafted in the first round doesn’t look too far-fetched for the elite back. Here’s all of the national media projected landing spots for Sanders, right before the season starts.

NBC Sports: Los Angeles Chargers- Pick 21

The Chargers are an interesting destination for Sanders, as they’re approaching win-now mode with quarterback Justin Herbert slowly getting closer to reaching his prime. LA already has Austin Ekeler, a Top 10 RB in the league, but after failed contract negotiations this summer, it’s looking like Ekeler is heading to a new destination after this season. Sanders is a perfect plug-and-play back for Los Angeles, and would form a very nice young backfield with Herbert.

33rd Team: Dallas Cowboys- Pick 26

You either love the Cowboys, or you hate them with every bone in your body. Sanders could most definitely be the next league icon if drafted to the Cowboys, and would fit in great with Mike McCarthy’s run heavy offense. Arkansas alumni and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has a taste for Arkansas products, and after current RB Tony Pollard was franchise tagged this off-season, Dallas could look to go in another direction for the future of the backfield.

247 Sports: New York Jets- Pick 29

The Jets are an unlikely landing spot for Sanders after the signing of Dalvin Cook and the breakout of Breece Hall last season, but the chance to play with one of the greats in Aaron Rodgers is an opportunity any can dream of. Sanders would be an outstanding piece to add to an already loaded young Jets offense, and would form an amazing 1-2 punch with Hall.

Pro Football Network: Tennessee Titans- Pick 36

Sanders falling to the early second round wouldn’t be ideal, but Hog fans wouldn’t complain to see Sanders and Treylon Burks play one the same team again. All-time great back Derrick Henry is reaching the end of his career, and has been on the trade block for some time now. If he eventually gets sent somewhere else, Tennessee would likely go into a rebuild, leaving Sanders and Burks as the stars of the Titans offense. A crazy sight for Hog fans, and a destination I’m personally rooting for Sanders to land in.
