Arkansas transfer guard Keyon Menifield will be a non-scholarship redshirt for the 2023-24 season, according to the team’s official website. Sources tell Hawg Country that Menifield will remain enrolled and practice with the team this season.

Menifield, entering his sophomore season, transferred to Fayetteville from Washington where he was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team. He averaged 10.0 points on 41.0% shooting from the field and 33.0% shooting from three. The 6-1, 170-pound guard also averaged 3.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals on the year.

After entering the transfer portal on March 28 of this year, he chose Arkansas over Alabama and others on April 4.

Losing Menifield may seem like a rather big blow at first glance. However, if there is one area that the Razorbacks could afford to lose a player, it’s in the backcourt. Eric Musselman still has El Ellis, Devo Davis, Tramon Mark, Kahlif Battle, Layden Blocker and Joseph Pinion to help fill the void.

Theoretically, that should open up a scholarship for Musselman to use to fill the vacant roster spot. Though, that player may already be on campus – unofficially. Stay tuned to Hawg Country as more news comes available.
