The secondary was affected the most by last season’s mass exodus of players. Arkansas has done a great job of rebuilding the position through the portal picking up Lorando “Snax” Johnson and Al Walcott from Baylor, former five-star Jaheim Singletary form Georgia, and now, AJ Brathwaite Jr. from Western Kentucky.

The Hollywood, FL native signed with the Hilltoppers in 2017 out of Miami Central High School. For the first three years, Brathwaite played in just 13 games. Coincidentally, he played against Arkansas in Chad Moris’ now infamous 45-19 loss to Western Kentucky, recording just one assisted tackle. As a redshirt junior Brathwaite exploded in production. He garnered 64 tackles (39 solo), one sack, two forced fumbles, and an interception.

In 2022, however, the 6’0, 190-pound safety was plagued by injury. He played in eight games but started just two. In his career with the Hilltoppers, he logged 98 tackles (64 solo), one sack, 2 forced fumbles (one recovered), and two interceptions.

According to 247Sports, Brathwaite was rated a three-star out of high school, but it has yet to assign him a transfer rating. Meanwhile, Arkansas sits a No. 10 in the transfer rankings without this weekend’s transfer additions. With Brathwaite’s commitment, Arkansas’s total scholarship players to 82, giving the Hogs three more to use.
