Arkansas had a very pleasant surprise today with 5-star defensive back, Selman Bridges continuing to trend towards the Razorbacks.

The Temple, Texas native is a member of the 2024 recruiting class. Bridges is the 50th overall prospect in they cycle, 8th ranked cornerback and 11th best player in Texas.

The Prediction

The prediction from 247sports’ Steve Wiltfong comes just a few days before his scheduled commitment date of July 15. Bridges is a highly sought after prospect with 27 offers including Texas, Alabama, TCU and USC.

HawgSports recruiting expert, Danny West also placed a prediction for Bridges.

As a junior, he finished the season with 46 tackles and two INTs, including one returned for a TD. Helped Lake Belton to an 8-3 record and a Texas 5A D-I first-round playoff appearance, according to Gabe Brooks of 247sports.

Current Commits

The Hogs have already assembled an impressive group of defensive backs in this class thanks to new co-defensive coordinator Marcus Woodson. It is currently headlined by four-star athletes Noreel White, Jaden Allen, Ahkhari Johnson and Tevis Metcalf.

An addition of Bridges would make him the highest committed player of the class. While also moving them up to 16th overall in the 247 team composite rankings. It was also move them to 7th overall in the newly expanded SEC ahead of rival Texas.

Two-time defending College Football Playoff champions, Georgia, are sitting far and beyond at number one nationally. There’s no sign of slowing down for the Bulldogs.

As for Arkansas, it tells everyone that they are meant to be taken seriously as a program once again. Pittman has assembled his best recruiting staff in his four seasons at Arkansas. Will the results on the field come to match it?
