Instate talents seem to be impressing scouts lately.

Four-star Charleston Collins becomes the second Arkansas football commit to receive a big recruiting bump.

Earlier this week, fellow Arkansas commit Courtney Crutchfield received a massive boost to his 247Sports rating. He jumped from an 89 rated four-star to a 94 rating. He also moved from 401st recruit in his class to the 64th.

Collins’ rating bump wasn’t as dramatic as his future teammate’s but it was still very significant. 247Sports gave the Little Rock native a 90 rating and 179th overall recruit in the 2024 class. However, his overall grade rose to 93 and is now considered 77th over in his class.

At the time of his commitment, Collins was the No. 22 DL recruit in the country but has moved up No. 17. He’s still the second best player in the state, however the order has moved around. His ratings boost moved him in front of Auburn commit Walker White, but Crutchfield jumped both Collins and White to take the top spot.

247Sports still ranks Arkansas’s 2024 class at No. 15 nationally, but Collins’ and Crutchfield’s ratings could still help in future recruiting. Good players want to play with other good players. Arkansas football now boasts two recruits ranked in the Top 100. For reference, the last time Arkansas signed just one top 100 recruit was McTelvin Agim in the 2016 class. Sam Pittman and staff could certainly use that as recruiting tool, potentially pulling even more big time recruits.
