Arkansas Football continues to put together a solid 2024 recruiting class that includes eight four-star prospects. There have been several players recently commit but also have seen one player back off his verbal.
There have been several intriguing prospects visit Fayetteville recently and we could see some make a commitment sooner than later.
The last Saturday of July was the Hog Wild Hangout that saw commitments from 2024 plus 2025 and 2026 prospects. Linebacker Xavier Atkins, tight end Jacorey Whitted and DE Lance Jackson are all highly sought after prospects that could be calling the Hogs.
Marcus Wimberly and Jeremy Cook announced their pledges to the Razorbacks following their weekend visits. Who’s next?
Lance Jackson
It makes sense early on for Jackson to be a Razorback. The 2025 prospect is rated as a four-star prospect with 247sports. He is ranked as the 139th best prospect, 16th along the defensive line and 22nd overall player in the Lonestar State. Jackson attended the Hog Wild Hangout this weekend and was said to have enjoyed himself. His brother, Landon, is already on The Hill as a defensive end. With the younger Jackson being a 2025 prospect its unlikely we’ll see them as bookends along the line. However, all signs look good for Arkansas right now to land the Pleasant Grove product.
Justin Logan
The Hogs are in need of some linebacker help as they only have one player currently committed to play at the position. Logan was also at the hangout this past weekend and was reportedly blown away by his experience. The Marietta, (Ga.) prospect holds impressive size at 6’2 205 pounds. He can fly around the second level of the defense and is a punishing tackler. Logan helped his high school to a 10-2 overall record as a junior and recorded 60 tackles, 1 interception and a PBU. The Razorbacks should be in good shape as he will announce his commitment on Wednesday at 8 AM.
Wyatt Simmons
If there was anyone in this class you can’t really get a read on it is Simmons. The Harding Academy linebacker put together an exceptional junior campaign. He was simply not very well known until putting his tape out there with curiosity. His recruitment then blew up with offers from his home-state Razorbacks, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Oklahoma and now USC. If you play his highlight reel one would see solid instincts, always near the football and a knack for making big plays. It also helps that his father is a head coach for an instate Division II school, Harding University so his development seems to be ahead of others at his position.
The 6’3 215 pound linebacker has good size and speed to play LB in the SEC and would be a good addition to the 2024 class for Arkansas. Most players like Simmons lack a complete recruiting profile considering a lack of participation in camps. Regardless of his mid three-star status, the Searcy, (Ark.) native would be a tremendous commitment.
As a junior, Simmons recorded junior 84 tackles, 15 TFL, 6 sacks, 1 INT, 2 fumble recoveries, and 2 defensive TDs. He also played on offense rushing 12 times for 61 yards and 1 TD. He also caught 2 passes for 109 yards and 2 TDs.
