Breaking: Arkansas Basketball adds Memphis transfer

Published

on

Arkansas’ basketball program hosted Chandler Lawson on an official visit earlier in the week. He has now committed to transfer to play for the Razorbacks next season. The Hogs have their final scholarship filled.

It’s been noted that the staff was looking for an elusive player capable of playing either the 3, 4 or both. The nation’s top high school prospect for 2023, Ron Holland, was linked to becoming a Razorback after being released from his letter of intent in April. But, the Texas native decided to sign with the G-League instead.

North Dakota State transfer, Grant Nelson, visited Arkansas a couple of weekends ago but decided not to commit. Now, the Hogs are looking at Lawson who was a highly touted top-100 prospect in the 2019 class.

Lawson played in all 35 games for Memphis last season with 24 starts. The 6’7 forward averaged 5 points and 4.5 rebounds last season. He shot 56-percent from the field and made 7-14 three point attempts. His free throw percentage is only at a 57.8-percent rate for his career.

If Arkansas lands Lawson, the Memphis native would be the sixth addition out of the transfer portal, the first forward added.
