Arkansas landed an huge addition to the tight end room with freshman all-American, Var’Keyes Gumms out of the transfer portal.

The 6’3 235 pound freshman had an exceptional season after only starting six games. With the addition of Gumms Arkansas now has brought in 13 scholarship transfers this offseason. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Gumms recorded 34 receptions for 458 yards and 5 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman. He did most of his damage after starting the final six games of the season.

Arkansas was lacking numbers in tight end room after losing Trey Knox to the transfer portal in December. The Hogs do have quality players at the position including a pair of incoming freshman four-star, Luke Hasz and Shamar Easter. Plus, redshirt freshman Ty Washington returns after having a breakout performance in the Liberty Bowl.

Former walk-on, Nathan Bax, is the leader in the tight end room. But, they still needed bodies at the position if they want to run 12 personnel under new offensive coordinator Dan Enos.
