Elite 2024 Tight End Lists Hogs in Top Six

Published

on

The Razorbacks continue to be red hot on the recruiting trail as they are in the top six for coveted 2024 tight end Tayvion Galloway. Miami, Colorado, UCF, Purdue and Louisville are all considered potential destinations for Galloway.

Arkansas is beginning to extent their recruiting to the Midwest as Galloway is from Buckeye country. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound Galloway is a four-star and ranked as 247Sports’ No. 13 tight end and No. 6 senior in Ohio.

Along with an offer from Arkansas he also holds one from Auburn, Florida, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ole Miss, North Carolina and Kentucky. Galloway was formerly committed to LSU in July 2022 but backed off his pledge in June 2023. Arkansas’ initial offer was extended in April 2022.

The tight end room is currently stacked with young talent. Luke Hasz, Shamar Easter, Tyus Washington and Var’Keyes Gumms have elevated this position to becoming an offensive threat under new offensive coordinator Dan Enos. It is very likely the TE room will have more of an influence on the offense considering Enos coaching history. Adding another elite talent like Galloway is a huge welcome and a game changer for the Arkansas offense in the coming years on and off the field.

247Sports Evaluation

Has verified size and measurables. Basketball player as well who shows good body control on the field and on the court. Testing numbers back up athletic ability, and ability to run and change directions. Has lined up on the ball some but is more frequently split out or in the slot. Shows the versatility to line up anywhere though and also has run the whole route tree. Can be dangerous after the catch on screens and can get downfield and win contested passes. Solid, willing blocker but can still get stronger. Has added good weight throughout his career though. He is regularly more talented than his competition so we do not get to see him go against similar athletes much. Will need to adjust to high-major competition in college but has a good set of base tools.

Arkansas has moved inside the top 20 in the 2024 recruiting rankings according to 247sports composite rankings. Flip over to Rivals and it shows the Razorbacks with 13 four-star prospects committed which is the second most in program history just behind the 2019 class that signed 14. It seems that recruiting is on the uptick right now in the Sam Pittman era.
