Former Arkansas and NFL Defensive End Chris Smith Has Passed Away

Fayetteville, (Ark.) — Former Arkansas and NFL defensive end Chris Smith has passed away at 31 years old.

Chris played for the Hogs for the 2010-13 seasons and recorded 61 tackles and 21.5 sacks. He was selected as the 159th overall pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Smith recently signed with the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL.

The news of his death was first announced by his high school football team’s twitter account. “Rest in Peace to a West Rowan Legend! Chris was a better person than he was player! The impact he had on those around him will be remembered forever!”

At this time, the cause of his death has not been released.
