Four-star DL target includes Arkansas in top-eight

Arkansas has made another highly touted recruit’s top schools list.

Four-Star prospect, Nigel Smith II out of Melissa High School in Melissa, TX is the No. 73 player in the nation, No. 10 overall defensive lineman, and No. 14 recruit in the state of Texas according to 247Sports Composite.

The 6’5, 260-pound Defensive end was a star early in his career. As a freshman, he was the Texas District 7-4A-I Co-Defensive Newcomer of the Year and Unanimous Defensive Lineman of the Year as a sophomore. In 2022, Smith II was the Texas District 7-5A-II Defensive Lineman of the Year and the Texas Sportswriters Association selected him 5A first-team all-state team.

Smith II helped lead his team to 11-3 in his junior season, losing to South Oak Cliff High School (Dallas) in the fourth round of the playoffs.

In addition to Arkansas, Smith II named Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio State, Georgia, Texas A&M, Rutgers, and Penn State in his top-eight.
