Holland receives “futurecast” from Rivals

With an early Sunday morning sneak Jackson Collier of Hawgbeat-Rivals placed a futurecast prediction for Arkansas to land Ron Holland.

If you’ve been hiding under a rock the past nine days, Holland is the number one overall player in the country, per 247sports. The Duncanville, (TX) native decommitted from the Texas Longhorn basketball program last Friday. He committed to Texas during the summer before Chris Beard was fired as head coach.

The Skinny

It’s been said by multiple trusted sources to Hawg Country that the only thing that will come between Arkansas and Holland is the G-League. If that is the actual case here then Eric Musselman and his staff have to feel good about their chances with this prediction by Collier.

From an outsider’s perspective, why Arkansas for Holland? Razorback Basketball is on an uptick in recruiting. If Arkansas were to land Holland it would give the second straight recruiting cycle that Razorbacks land the number one overall player in the country.

Arkansas has landed four McDonald’s All-Americans since the 2022 class. That includes Nick Smith, Jr. (2022), Anthony Black (2022), Jordan Walsh (2022) and Baye Fall (2023).

Being selected in the NBA Draft is also a dream of plenty of high school athletes going into the college game. Why go anywhere else besides Arkansas right now? Not only are the top high school players being drafted but transfers are making rosters, too.

Since Musselman’s arrival Isaiah Joe, Moses Moody and Jaylin Williams have all been drafted. Arkansas could double that number in this draft alone.

Although the Hogs didn’t win at the level expected during the regular season they still made their third straight Sweet Sixteen appearance under Musselman. Could the addition of Holland put Arkansas over the top going into next season? We should soon find out.

UPDATE:

There’s been at least one national basketball analyst with Rivals place a future cast prediction for Holland to Arkansas. Keenan Womack is a basketball insider for Orange Bloods the Rivals site for Texas. This prediction should hold a little more weight for the case of Arkansas potentially landing Holland.
