Southeastern Conference

Hoover, (Ala.)— The Razorback Baseball team was carried by a grand slam by Jared Wegner and a solo shot to center by Kendall Diggs to take a 6-5 victory on Wednesday over Texas A&M.

The Arkansas win set up a matchup with LSU on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m. SEC Network will have the broadcast between two of the top teams in the conference. Whoever wins earns their spot in the SEC Tournament semifinal set for Saturday.

However, the loser of this game will face the loser between Texas A&M-South Carolina on Friday in an elimination game.

WHERE: Hoover Metropolitan Stadium (Hoover, Ala.)

TIME: Approximately 4:30 pm CST

SERIES: LSU leads 77-40

PITCHERS: Arkansas LHP Hagen Smith (8-1, 2.56 ERA, 1.25 WHIP in 63 1/3 innings) vs. LSU RHP Paul Skenes (10-1, 1.77 ERA, 0.75 WHIP in 86 2/3 innings)

The Skinny

Boy, does LSU have an elite starter in Skenes? The Tigers have fallen off a smidge after a solid start. However, they are dangerous at the plate.  It seems like Dylan Crews has been around Baton Rouge for a decade now. He was named SEC Player of the Year after a season that saw him record .424 BA, 14 HR, 57 RBI and 81 runs.

Arkansas will be looking for their second SEC Tournament title in three seasons under Van Horn. They currently have six batters in the lineup with a BA over .300 being led by RF Jace Bohrofen (.328, 14 HR and 46 RBI).

Peyton Holt has been on fire since being inserted into the starting lineup after Peyton Stovall’s injury. The Greenwood, (Ark.) native is up to .391 BA on the season with 2 HR and 16 RBI.

Who’s your daddy?

Finally, the Razorbacks find themselves tied or down a run during the end of a game and Diggs is up it could spell trouble. The Kansas native blasted a walk off solo HR on Thursday to push the Hogs past the Aggies. The solo shot was his fifth walk-off homer of the season.
