247sports recruiting insider, Danny West, released a crystal ball today in favor of wide receiver target, CJ Brown, committing to the Razorbacks. The Bentonville, (Ark.) product currently holds nine scholarship offers. Besides Arkansas, Brown has offers from Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Louisville and Purdue.
The 6’0 185 pound receiver is currently a high three star prospect graded at an 88 according to 247sports rankings. Using their composite system that accounts for the major recruiting services scores, Brown is ranked slightly lower with .8750.
Brown is the 651st overall ranked player in his class according to 247sports composite, 87th receiver and seventh ranked player in Arkansas.
The northwest Arkansas product also excels at track and field where he ran a 11.03 second 100-meter this spring. Brown had a breakout junior campaign that saw him record 75 catches for 1,284 yards and 16 touchdowns last season on his way to first-team 7A-West All-State honors.
The state of Arkansas has lacked producing SEC talented players for the flagship program over the past few seasons. It’s not very often that the Natural State produces 10-plus Power Five conference level players in a single class either. However, the 2024 cycle seems to buck the negative recruiting trend.
This year, Arkansas has 13 players listed in the class and all of the currently boast an 86 rating it higher. There were only nine players with that grade in the 2023 class, 10 in 2022, seven in 2021 and 2020. In the 2019 class Arkansas only produced six players with a better grade than 86. Only three of them signed with the Razorbacks.
It’s still early in the 2025 evaluation but there are currently three players graded and all are an 87 or higher.
If Arkansas were to land the talented Brown soon, the Razorbacks would move up to 11th in 247sports 2024 team rankings.
