LSU Without Star Linebacker Against Hogs

BATON ROUGE, La. — LSU linebacker Omar Speights will miss Saturday night’s game against Arkansas, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Source: LSU Linebacker Omar Speights will miss the Tigers’ home SEC opener against Arkansas with a hip flexor injury. He’d been downgraded to doubtful this week. He had eight tackles against FSU in the opener and was first-team All-Pac-12 at Oregon State last year.

Speights has been highly productive during the last three seasons including 80+ tackles in 2021 and 2022. He transferred to LSU during the offseason and was expected to make an immediate impact for the Tigers. The Oregon State transfer had a solid debut in week one with 8 tackles.

The injury puts a wrench into the linebacker cycle for the Tigers. With recent struggles from the Arkansas offensive line any sort of minor injury will help their blocking concept and offensive scheme.
