Former Fayetteville native and Razorback star, Dre Greenlaw, was ranked the 79th best player in the league early Thursday morning.

After leaving Arkansas for the NFL in 2019, Greenlaw has steadily become integral to the 49er’s defense. Here’s what NFL Digital Content Creator, Brenna White had to say about his performance last season:

“Not to be overlooked, Greenlaw has shined on the 49ers’ superstar-filled defense. Leading the team with 82 solo tackles and notching 127 combined for San Francisco in 2022, Greenlaw helped propel the 49ers into becoming the NFL’s first-ranked defense in points allowed. The 26-year-old also had six passes defensed, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and one interception and provided those game-altering plays in the biggest moments.”

What makes his performance so impactful is that, the 49er’s placed Greenlaw on IR for a groin injury that limited him to just three games in 2021. His meteoric rise after a season-long injury is rare in the NFL. In some cases, it could be career killer. However, Greenlaw conquered the injury and came back better than ever. Before last year, his best season performance was his rookie season. He played 16 games and totaled 92 tackles, including 64 solo.

This year’s list is the first time Greenlaw has made the cut. And unlike most rankings, the NFL’s top 100 players is a player-led poll. The former Hog isn’t just making an impact on his team, he’s also making an impact on the league as a whole.

As a Razorback, Greenlaw played all four seasons he was in Fayetteville, and nearly led the team in tackles as a freshman. Only one other player bested him by 7 tackles. That player just happened to be another Arkansas great, Brooks Ellis. In his career, Greenlaw totaled 321 tackles, 159 solo, two pass deflections, four sacks, one forced fumble, and three interceptions.
