One year after being a McDonalds All-American in the 2022 class, Jordan Walsh has been selected with the 38th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings. However, Walsh will head to Boston.
A native of Dallas, (Texas) Walsh spent his senior year at Link Prep in Branson before committing to Arkansas and their second ranked recruiting class in the country. Although he didn’t play up to the high potential early on in his lone season with the Razorbacks, Walsh made huge plays in some of the biggest moments of the season. He averaged 7.1 points and 3.9 rebounds in 22 starts. While also flashing his defense with 40 total steals.
His performance from late February through March gained him the confidence to play quality minutes and make critical shots down the stretch. Walsh’s biggest moment was the go-ahead three point basket that pushed the Razorbacks ahead of Kansas for good during the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Draft profile:
Height: 6-7
Wingspan: 7 ft. 1.75-inch
Vertical: 36-inches
Strengths
Walsh plays more physical than his frame suggests. He is terrific athlete with the ability to stretch the floor running in transition with a sneaky good three-point shot. During the NBA Combine, the former Razorback displayed a knack for shooting in the midrange and extending to three. He is one of the best when it comes to jumping with no running start which will help him against bigger players in the post and running the floor.
Weakness
If there is one weakness in his game it is consistent shooting. Everyone knows that a sub-30 percent three point shooting will not do it in the association right now. More help and training at the highest level will make Walsh a much better shooter and threat to score. His potential is very high and will develop into a quality player in due time.
What Muss said
“(Walsh) did a little bit of everything but score with the basketball. He is an excellent rebounder for his position. A very, very unselfish basketball player. He showed those two skills that he has: being unselfish, moving without the basketball and being a range rebounder. He does a great job of rebounding out of his area.”
