The Golden State Warriors were looking for somebody to step up and give them a spark during Thursday’s 127-100 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. They looked no further than second year player, Moses Moody.

With a shimmy, step back made three-point basket over Lebron James, it quickly got Moody going and he never looked back.

Folks see Moody’s work

The former Razorback guard performed well going for 10 points and seven rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench against the Lakers. Former Warriors forward Juan Toscano-Anderson highlighted how the 20-year-old showed maturity by stepping up in critical moments.

“I think his experiences, his parents, I mean, I’ve gotten a chance to really know his parents [and] they’re great people,” Toscano-Anderson told Bonta Hill, Chris Mullin and Dorell Wright on NBC Sports Bay Area’s “Warriors Postgame Live” after the win.

“Moses is a true professional. If one day I ever have kids, I would love for my kids to grow up and be like him. You know, the way he comes to work every day, the way he conducts himself.”

Moody is a former lottery pick and has seen a lack of playing time on a very talented Warriors roster this season. Toscani-Anderson went on to say he wasn’t surprised by the former Hogs performance.

“I’m not surprised by his performance,” Toscano-Anderson continued. “After seeing a lot of DNPs [Did Not Play] and a lot of limited minutes, that’s great, especially from a young guy who’s [in his] second year in the league.

“I don’t know exactly how old he is. He’s probably, like, 20 years old, 21 years old. So that’s impressive. And I’m most impressed by the seven rebounds. That’s big time.”

Praise from the head coach

This isn’t the first time Moody has been complemented while he’s been in the league. It was said by Golden State head coach, Steve Kerr, in April that he sees the hard work Moody has put in.

“He said, ‘Look, I chose to play in the NBA, I chose to develop in the NBA, not at Arkansas. If I was at Arkansas, I would be playing. But I chose to develop in the NBA and this is part of it.’ That’s like the most mature answer I’ve ever heard anybody give.

“But that’s who he is, he’s just a really mature, young guy and he gets it. There’s a lot to learn but he puts in the work, he puts in the time, and he’s got an incredible attitude. The work is paying off, he’s getting better and tonight he was one of the keys to the game.”

Finally, it says a lot about a player that puts in the work to achieve his dreams and Moody is proving himself that the moment is never too big.
