Last night, the SEC released its anticipate 2024 schedules that included both Texas and Oklahoma for the first time.  When Arkansas’ schedule was revealed, fans on social media were elated with what they saw. For the first time in a long time, the Hogs will have a manageable schedule that includes four incredible home games. LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and yes, Texas will all meet the Razorbacks in Fayetteville. Arkansas’ away games are also very nice. Only Mississippi State, Auburn and Mizzou are true away games. The Texas A&M game will be played in Arlington as the final installment of the 11 year contract signed back in 2014.

In the recent past, Arkansas has been given incredibly tough schedules. For example, during the “Covid” season, the SEC implemented a 10-game, all-SEC schedule. The SEC then gave Arkansas the two hardest East teams in Georgia and Florida. Speaking of Florida, four of the last five times Arkansas has played the Gators the game has been in the Swamp.

The level of happiness from Hog fans shows just how bad the SEC has treated Arkansas when it comes to scheduling.

Before the schedule was release, however, vibe going around Razorback social media circles wasn’t promising. It was relief for some when they realized that Arkansas didn’t draw the short straw.

And if you noticed that a lot of national media personalities were surprised that the SEC didn’t give Arkansas the raw end of the deal, you weren’t alone.

And some were just happy not to see Alabama on the schedule.

Some fans, although very few, were left a little bit wanting.

But honestly, with a conference as loaded as the SEC, no team will ever have an “easy” schedule. All one can do is hope for a manageable one. And, indeed, that’s what the SEC produced.
