Report: New Arkansas DB has left team

In a report by Andrew Hutchison of Best of Arkansas Sports, transfer defensive back AJ Brathwaite has left the Razorback Football program.

This comes after reports from practice that the former Western Kentucky DB has fallen in the rotation at nickelback. With pads being added to the fold on Thursday, it was time to get more physical and gain a better look at the team the Razorbacks have for 2023. Was there a look that Pittman liked with moving Lorando “Snaxx” Johnson to nickelback and away from boundary cornerback? That could be the case pushing Brathwaite back a spot in the depth chart.

The 6-foot-1, 190 pound transfer struggled to stay healthy at his previous stop. He appeared in 8 games as a junior in 2022 while starting in 2 contests. Brathwaite finished the season with 17 total tackles and 1 TFL. Before ultimately committing to the Razorbacks he was committed to play for Florida International. It was a key stretch for Arkansas in the portal by adding two additional transfers in defensive tackle Keive Rose and tight end Francis Sherman. Both of them look to play plenty of snaps this season.

Arkansas was one of the busiest teams in the transfer portal during the offseason. They added quite a few DB’s to shore up the depth issue that reared it’s ugly head with a disastrous 2022 season.

Arkansas is now one scholarship shy of a full 85-man roster for the season. In the past there have been walk-on’s awarded a full-ride for the season. That would include Grant Morgan, Hayden Henry and Hudson Clark has notable Razorbacks to make an impact after starting their career the hard way.
