Sam Pittman: “It Feels Different Out There”

Another week, another Sam Pittman press conference. All eyes are locked on the game in Fayetteville this weekend, as Arkansas takes on Brigham Young. Here’s everything Pittman said that you need to hear.

Pittman started off the press conference Wednesday with a vibe check; “To be honest, it feels different out there. Very physical. Really good morale. I think we’re ready to play.”

He then went on to talk about the importance of the game against BYU on Saturday; “We understand this is a big game for us. BYU’s averaged almost 10 wins a season in the last three years, they’re on a six game win streak. Best opponent we’ve played by far.” Arkansas defeated the Cougars last season in Provo, 52-35.

KJ Jefferson had an elite performance last season against BYU, and Pittman was asked about the plan to use Jefferson’s legs this week after he had 13 carries last week; “We didn’t really want to run him much in the first two games. From now on, it’s a different story. We’re going to run whatever we think will get us the most yardage and score the most points.”

The Arkansas team and fans both felt the love in Provo last season, and Sam Pittman did as well from BYU’s Head Coach, Kalani Sitake; “He was very kind to me when we went out there last year. When you lose, it’s hard to say things after, but he was very respectful to the team and myself.” Expecting the Hog fans to show the Cougars the same respect during their trip to Fayetteville this season.

Pittman also broke the news that Arkansas DB Dwight McGlothern is expected to play this week after only playing one snap last Saturday against Kent State due to turf toe. “He’s practiced both days. He’s still has a little tenderness in the toe, but I believe he’ll be ready to play on Saturday,” he said.

The entire football team will be in theaters to watch a movie Friday night to get ready for the game, a tradition Pittman has kept throughout this tenure. “We’ve got a movie set up. I can’t remember the name of it. Denzel Washington, you can’t go wrong,” said Pittman, implying that they’ll watch newly released Equalizer 3.
