SEC QB Power Rankings After Week 6

The SEC QB Power Rankings have gone topsy-turvy since the start of the season. Well, I guess that’s what you’d expect. It’s been a…surprising season for many QBs in the conference. Brady Cook looks like an All-SEC quarterback. Will Rogers and KJ Jefferson are struggling. Jalen Milroe is playing lights out. Devin Leary has been terribly inconsistent. How does all of this shake out in the rankings?

1. Jayden Daniels, LSU

at Missouri- W 49-39

15/21 passing, 259 yards, 3 TDs, 97.1 QBR

15 rushes, 130 yards, 1 TD

Possibly the most consistent QB in the conference is Daniels, who absolutely lit up the Mizzou defense on Saturday. LSU needed that win, and Daniels was the player of the game. Exactly what you want (and need) out of your star quarterback.

2. Brady Cook, Missouri Image Up Arrow 1

vs. LSU- L 49-39

30/47 passing, 411 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 64.0 QBR

In a monumental fashion, Cook has risen into the top 2 of the SEC QB Power Rankings. This season has been incredible for him so far. With the talented receivers Missouri has playing alongside Cook, Missouri is a legitimate contender in the East.

3. Carson Beck, Georgia Image Up Arrow 2

vs. Kentucky- W 51-13

28/35 passing, 389 yards, 4 TDs, 1 INT, 95.6 QBR

Carson Beck is continuing to develop exactly how Kirby Smart planned. This was a great performance, against a quality defense too. Georgia put the nation and all SEC defenses on notice, as did Carson Beck.

4. Spencer Rattler, South Carolina

Bye

5. Jalen Milroe, Alabama Image Up Arrow 3

at Texas A&M- W 26-20

21/33 passing, 321 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT, 77.1 QBR

Jalen Milroe masterclass? I’m here for it. Despite a lack of solid protection, Milroe kept making plays and finding the open receiver. This is what Alabama needed against Texas earlier this season. If that game were to be played next weekend, my money would be on the Crimson Tide. Jalen Milroe is finally playing like an elite SEC quarterback.

6. Jaxson Dart, Ole MissRed arrow down icon. Direction cursor sign. Navigation concept. Realistic design. Vector illustration. Stock image. Red arrow down icon. Direction cursor sign. vs. Arkansas- W 27-20

16/25 passing, 153 yards, 1 TD, 49.6 QBR

While Dart played rather poorly against Arkansas, he was playing through an injury. With an enhanced focus on the rushing attack, Dart didn’t really get the chance to try his luck through the air too much against Arkansas.

This should have benefitted the Hogs, but somehow their offense was even worse. Dart will bounce back and play better in the following weeks once he recovers from that injury.

7. Max Johnson, Texas A&M

vs. Alabama- L 26-20

14/25 passing, 239 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 61.8 QBR

Alabama’s defense is elite this season. That’s not a surprise. What has been a surprise is how well Max Johnson has played since taking over for the injured Conner Weigman. I expect to continue to see Johnson have solid performances this season.

8. Joe Milton III, Tennessee Image Up Arrow 1

Bye

9. Graham Mertz, Florida Image Up Arrow 1

vs. Vanderbilt- W 38-14

30/36 passing, 254 yards, 1 TD, 69.9 QBR

Mertz has played pretty well the past few weeks, which has very slowly moved him up the SEC QB Power Rankings. 30/36 passing is impressive even if you’re playing Vanderbilt. I think Florida’s offense has the potential to be pretty lethal behind Mertz and their running back group.

10. KJ Jefferson, ArkansasRed arrow down icon. Direction cursor sign. Navigation concept. Realistic design. Vector illustration. Stock image. Red arrow down icon. Direction cursor sign. at Ole Miss- L 27-20

25/39 passing, 250 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 58.0 QBR

17 rushes, 11 yards

KJ Jefferson has only looked like himself for about 8 quarters of football this season. Very few of which being consecutive. Is it the offensive line? Is it the new scheme and play-calling? It seems like a combination, but regardless…KJ isn’t even close to looking like one of the best SEC quarterbacks.

The Arkansas offense as a whole is sputtering greatly. Whether the Hogs find a way to turn it around or not could heavily influence the likelihood of Jefferson being drafted in April.

11. Will Rogers, Mississippi State

vs. Western Michigan- W 41-28

16/22 passing, 189 yards, 3 TDs, 78.0 QBR

Like KJ Jefferson, Will Rogers seems to be a quarterback who is having a hard time adapting to a new scheme (along with the entire offense). However, this was a solid showing. Rogers went down late in this one with an injury, so someone else may have to step up the next few Saturdays. The latest I’ve heard is that it could be a 4-6 week injury. Not ideal for the Bulldogs.

12. Devin Leary, Kentucky

at Georgia- L 51-13

10/26 passing, 128 yards, 2 TDs, 61.8 QBR

I think it to myself week in and week out: Leary is not the quarterback everyone thought he was before the start of the season. I think Kentucky has a very solid squad all around, but a subpar and highly inconsistent quarterback in Devin Leary.

13. Ken Seals, Vanderbilt

at Florida- L 38-14

19/34 passing, 276 yards, 2 TDs, 53.1 QBR

Seals has all but officially replaced AJ Swann as the starter for Vandy since Swann suffered an elbow injury a few weeks ago. Altogether, this wasn’t a horrible performance by Seals. More games like this could slowly move him up the SEC QB Power Rankings.

14. Payton Thorne, Auburn

Bye
