SEC QB Power Rankings After Week 9

Published

on

The entire top three in the SEC QB Power Rankings had an off week. That made for a gameday in which those middle-of-the-pack quarterbacks could try and develop separation from each other.

1. Jayden Daniels, LSU

DNP (Bye)

2. Jalen Milroe, Alabama

DNP (Bye)

3. Brady Cook, Missouri

DNP (Bye)

4. Carson Beck, Georgia

vs. Florida- W 43-20

19/28 passing, 315 yards, 2 TDs, 88.0 QBR

5 rushes, 10 yards

While this was a spectacular performance from Beck, I dislike moving players down in the SEC QB Power Rankings during their bye week. So, Carson Beck remains at number four. Let’s face it, it’s not like Florida has a great passing defense. However, Beck is proving to be a premier SEC quarterback. Georgia fans are hoping the momentum and confidence he has picked up continues to flow through the next few weekends.

5. Graham Mertz, Florida Image Up Arrow 1

vs. Georgia- L 43-20

25/34 passing, 230 yards, 2 TDs, 48.4 QBR

1 rushing TD

Despite the scoreboard, Graham Mertz played pretty well overall. He was sacked quite a few times, and felt a lot of pressure throughout this ball game. Arkansas plays at Florida next week. Arkansas should be looking to replicate what Georgia did on the defensive front against Florida.

6. Joe Milton III, Tennessee Image Up Arrow 1

at Kentucky- W 33-27

18/21 passing, 228 yards, 1 TD, 85.6 QBR

10 rushes, 26 yards

19/28 passing, 240 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 36.7 QBR

1 rushing TD

8. Max Johnson, Texas A&M Image Up Arrow 1

vs. South Carolina- W 30-17

20/30 passing, 249 yards, 1 TD, 66.7 QBR

9. Devin Leary, Kentucky Image Up Arrow 2

vs. Tennessee- L 33-27

at Auburn- L 27-13

16/32 passing, 161 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT, 36.7 QBR

14 rushes, 63 yards

12. Payton Thorne, Auburn Image Up Arrow 2

vs. Mississippi State- W 27-13

20/26 passing, 230 yards, 3 TDs, 88.5 QBR

8 rushes, 38 yards

In his best performance of the season so far, Thorne helped the Tigers secure the much-needed win. This will bump him up just a little in the SEC QB Power Rankings. Especially given how poorly Ken Seals played on Saturday.
